Change order software for agencies

Change orders your client approves before the work starts.

Clients request changes through one link, you price them in days and dollars, and they approve in writing before anyone builds.

Free on one project · Built for agencies, not construction

Why templates stop short

A change order template is a document. The money leaks around it.

Most agencies have a change request form somewhere. The form is rarely the problem. The problem is everything that has to happen before it gets filled in and after it gets sent.

The ask arrives in the wrong place.

A Slack message, a call, a comment on a design file. Nobody turns it into a change order, so the work just starts.

The price goes out late, or never.

Pricing a small change feels petty, so it waits until invoice time. By then the client remembers the request and has forgotten the cost.

The approval is a thumbs-up.

"Sounds good" in a thread is hard to find and easy to dispute. Six weeks later, nobody agrees on what was approved.

How a change order runs in Docket

Request, price, approve. Every change, the same way.

01 · Request. The client asks through one standing link per project. No account, works on a phone.
02 · Price. You reply with the extra days and cost. Docket drafts the sentence the client will see.
03 · Approve. One click from the client. The decision lands in the project log, and a confirmation goes to their inbox.
The record

What every approval keeps.

When a client later says "I never agreed to that," the answer is one entry in the project log. On Pro and Agency, export it as a signed PDF.

SCR-014approved

Build an analytics dashboard on the marketing site. This change will take 3 additional days and cost $800 extra.

Questions

What people ask before they start.

What is change order software?

Change order software records a request to change agreed scope, the price and schedule impact of that change, and the client’s approval, in one place. Docket does this for agency client work: the client asks through a link, you reply with days and cost, and the client approves before anything is built.

Do my clients need an account?

No. Clients use a shared link to submit requests and a second link to approve or decline. There is no login, no portal to learn, and it works on a phone.

Does a Docket approval replace my contract?

No. Your contract or statement of work sets the terms, and Docket records each change agreed under it. The strongest setup is a change clause in the contract that says changes are priced in writing and approved before work begins, with Docket as the place that happens. This is not legal advice.

Is Docket for construction change orders?

No. Docket is built for agencies doing client work: design, web, development and marketing. It does not produce AIA-style construction change order forms or track materials and subcontractors.

Can I keep using my project management tool?

Yes. Docket handles the change itself: the request, the price and the approval. Once a change is approved, the work goes into whatever tool your team already plans in.

How much does it cost?

Free for one active project. Pro is $79 a month for up to five active projects and adds the signed PDF export. Agency is $199 a month for unlimited projects and a client portal on your own domain. Billing is per active project, not per seat.

Price the next change before anyone builds it.

Create a project, share the request link, and the next change your client asks for arrives with a place to put the price. No card required.
