Connect Docket to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants
Docket is a remote MCP server. Connect it to your AI assistant to review scope changes, draft impact assessments and send approval links from a conversation.
Server URL: https://mcp.scopedocket.com — Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.0 sign-in.
Requires a Docket Pro or Agency plan.
1What it does
Docket records scope change requests from your clients, your impact assessment of each one, and the client's signed approval. The Docket connector lets an AI assistant work with that record on your behalf: ask "what needs my attention today?", have it read a request and draft the impact assessment, then send the approval link to the client's approver — without leaving the conversation.
Everything the connector does produces exactly the same record as the Docket dashboard. It acts as you, sees only what your role can see, and never sends anything to a client unless you confirm.
2Before you connect
- A Docket account on the Pro or Agency plan. Free workspaces see an upgrade prompt on the consent screen instead of an Allow access button. Sign up or compare plans.
- An assistant that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth — Claude (any plan, including Free), ChatGPT with developer mode, Claude Code, or another MCP client.
You don't need an API key or client ID. Docket registers your assistant automatically the first time it connects.
3Connect from Claude
- In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.
- Click +, then Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://mcp.scopedocket.comas the remote MCP server URL. Leave the advanced OAuth fields empty. - Claude opens Docket in your browser. Sign in if you aren't already.
- The consent screen names the app, your workspace, and what it will be able to do. Click Allow access.
On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under Organization settings → Connectors, and each member then connects their own Docket account from Customize → Connectors.
Claude Code
Run claude mcp add --transport http docket https://mcp.scopedocket.com, then /mcp in a
session and follow the browser prompt to sign in.
4Connect from ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to Plugins and click + to create an app. Name it Docket.
- Under Connection, paste
https://mcp.scopedocket.comexactly — don't append/mcp. Choose OAuth and leave the client ID and secret empty. - Create the app, sign in to Docket when it opens, and click Allow access.
Start a new chat and add Docket from the tools menu. On a Business, Enterprise or Education workspace, an admin must first allow developer mode under Workspace settings → Permissions & roles.
5Other MCP clients
Point any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth sign-in at https://mcp.scopedocket.com and
leave the OAuth client fields empty. Docket recognizes Claude and ChatGPT by name; for any other app the
consent screen warns that Docket hasn't verified it, so only continue with a connection you set up
yourself.
6Tools
The connector exposes seven tools. Five only read; two write, and they're split so that drafting and sending are always separate steps.
| Tool | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
list_projects | Read | Active or archived projects with their baseline timeline and budget. |
list_change_requests | Read | Change requests, optionally filtered by project and status. |
get_change_request | Read | One request in full: request text, assessment, and the approval record if approved. |
get_audit_log | Read | The scope-change history for the workspace or one project, filterable by status and date. |
get_workspace_summary | Read | Open requests by status, the oldest unassessed request, and approvals pending for over a week. |
submit_assessment | Write | Saves a draft impact assessment — decision, timeline and cost impact, client-facing summary, internal note. Sends nothing. |
send_approval_link | Write · sends email | Emails the assessed request to the project's approver: an approval link for an accepted change, a notification for a decline or needs-discussion. Cannot be undone. |
send_approval_link is marked as destructive, so assistants that honor MCP annotations ask
you to confirm before running it. The connector can't create or edit projects, delete anything, or
export PDFs — those stay in the dashboard.
7Example prompts
- "What needs my attention in Docket today?"
- "Show me every open change request on the Wexford dealer portal project."
- "Read the newest request on the Wexford project and draft an assessment: accept, 4 extra days, $1,620."
- "That looks right — send it to the approver."
- "Which approvals has a client been sitting on for more than a week?"
- "Summarize every approved scope change on the Ketteridge Inns project, with total days and cost added, for tomorrow's client call."
8Permissions and access
On the consent screen you grant two scopes:
docket:read— view projects, change requests, assessments and the audit log.docket:write— submit impact assessments and send approval links on your behalf.
The connection acts as you. A project manager's connection sees only the projects they created; owners and admins see the whole workspace — the same rule as the dashboard. It can never reach another workspace's data. Docket records which assessments were made through the connector, alongside the rest of the project's history.
9Data and privacy
When your assistant calls a tool, Docket returns the requested project and change-request data to that assistant, which processes it under its own provider's terms. Docket doesn't receive your conversation — only the tool calls your assistant makes. See the Privacy Policy for how Docket handles your data.
10Disconnect
In Docket, Settings → Connected apps lists each connected app with when it was added and last used. Revoke access takes effect immediately. Remove the connector on the assistant's side too: in Claude, Customize → Connectors → Remove; in ChatGPT, delete the app under Plugins.
A connection unused for 30 days expires on its own; reconnecting means signing in again.
11Troubleshooting
- The consent screen shows an upgrade prompt. The workspace is on the Free plan. Upgrade in Settings → Billing, then connect again.
- ChatGPT can't connect. Check the URL is exactly
https://mcp.scopedocket.com, with no/mcpsuffix. - A project is missing. Project managers only see projects they created. Ask a workspace owner or admin, or check the project isn't archived.
- The assistant stopped working after a while. The connection expired or was revoked. Reconnect from your assistant's connector settings.
12Support
Email hello@scopedocket.com. Include the assistant you're using and, if a tool failed, the request ID it was working on.
